Musings from #oldguywritesbooks (a series)

There’s an old saying, “Everyone has a book in them.” Do you think that’s true? Or do you say “yes, but”? The reality is, and no offense is meant, that everyone has a book in them unless they are brain dead. That’s because every single person has a life story–everybody. Our life stories have resulted in our being who we are now. They are the stories that mold our belief systems, keep our emotions alive, and allow us to be. They are the truth from which wisdom is born. And each one is different and has its own significance and impact. They are natural and necessary–no, essential. We can’t live without our stories.

Everyone’s story has its own unique purpose. Yours may be the story that holds lessons that can help others, and yes, even teach them. Yours is a story that can give someone hope or encouragement. Yours is the story that could inspire them or comfort them. Yours might be just the story someone needs to see in their quest to see and know themselves. Your story could be a gift to someone, even a gift of life. Your story is important, more important than you may realize.

Think about what I have shared here. Make a heartfelt effort to see your story, no matter how good or bad you may think it is. Know this–we all have stories rife with good and bad chapters. That’s how we are wired. There can be no other way. Accept that, and then embrace it, and then own it and love it. It’s uniquely yours. Be proud of your story in its totality, a testament to your resilience and growth.

What will the title of your book be?
