Musings from #oldguywritesbooks (a series)
When a baby takes the first step, it’s a mixture of things that might be considered opposites. The first step is tenuous yet bold because there is no outright fear. The step looks weak, yet it is strong. It’s delicate yet determined, and it’s unsure, but it’s also convincing.
…dream BIG like a child!
Ken Poirot
When an author takes the first step, it’s akin to a baby’s first step. The mixture of emotions is remarkably similar, a delicate balance of tenuous boldness, weakness and strength, uncertainty but conviction. And it’s completely achievable once the fledging author has kicked the can of self-doubt to the curb, stopped believing the lies he has been telling himself (the stumbling blocks I wrote about earlier), and yields to the power of positivity. Further, hopefully, one will also realize that God is in the mix. Authoring may well be a part of God’s purpose and plan for his life.
The first step forward is to admit your fear, then you can take the next step to conquer it.
Ken Poirot
Finally, as part of your first step, consider authoring as a passion, not a thing to do. It is a passion. It’s a calling. It’s a belief system. If you have felt the nudge to author a book, own the fact that each of us, including you, has a book inside waiting to be written (remember that we all have a life story) and seize upon it as a calling, a call to action. It won’t be a job; rather, it will be that passion I mentioned, and thus, it will roll out of your heart in ways that amaze you.
Live your life without ever having to ask, “what if?”
Ken Poirot
But what do you do with the question, “But Why?”
