Why do I write?

Why write books? Well, I’m an author and that’s what authors do. But the answer is much deeper than that. I want people to read my books and see themselves on the pages. Hopefully, they will see pieces of their lives in them and connect with the message. I love it when I read a book and see myself on the pages–it means I’m relating to the message.

As an author, I’m sometimes asked what outcome I want. It’s a logical question. An excerpt from my soon-to-be new book, Undone, a grief journey in real time shows why I authored the book.

I hope that through these writtings, which were initially posted as blog entries, you (whether having traveled on the journry or not) might be able to see yourself in the story. If that happens, then hopefully one of two things will happen: 1) you will be able to validate your feelings and reactions from having experienced a similar journey, or 2) if you haven;t walked the journey before, you will be better prepared when the time comes to navigate that road.”

The above is a good example of how I got past one of the stumbling blocks a new author typically perceives as truth–when in fact it isn’t. The quote shows that I am offering something as an author.
