Joe Miller – Christian Author, Mentor, Men’s Ministry Leader
Joe Miller—known online as @oldguywritesbooks—is a Christian author based in Illinois. Over the years, Joe has spent decades honing his craft in storytelling, Christian songwriting, and faith-based ministry.
He’s a widowed father of seven, now writing full time and drawing from a life filled with growth, spiritual conviction, and a heartfelt desire to encourage others.
A Life Changed by Experience
Joe’s journey has taken many turns. He has served as a police command officer, run several small businesses that he owned, and mentored countless men through life’s challenges. These experiences have shaped his voiceand given his writing a unique blend of honesty, hope and grit.
As a result, Joe’s books speak to readers looking for healing, purpose, and spiritual transformation. His books especially connect with folks navigating grief, identity, and questions of faith.
Ministry and Mentorship
Currently, Joe serves in Men’s Ministry leadership at his local church. Further, he is known as a content writer and facilitator of Men’s Retreats. He’s also an Elder and mentor with Men at the Cross, a national Christian men’s ministry. Through this work, he walks alongside men dealing with loss, fatherhood struggles, spiritual uncertainty, and the silent burdens they often carry alone.

Are you kidding me? Music too?
So, short answer. . . yes, the old guy wrote lyrics way back when (but still after he got grey). Wrote about two hundred of them, in fact. Now, nowhere, nor at any time, did he ever say they were all good. But writing them was really good for him. You see, it lit the writing fire in him and allowed him to create stories out of words. Writing books was the next natural step.
